This will depend on the statue colour and environmental finish you choose –
For Silver Coloured – indoor Statues
These are made of primarily brass mixed with steel and copper and coated in a part silver (around15%) coating.
Use a diluted silver-cleaning product such as Silvo, diluted by 1:3 with water. Apply with a non-abrasive cloth and polish to a shine to guard against tarnishes.
For Gold Coloured - indoor Statues
These are primarily made of brass mixed with steel and copper.
Use a brass-cleaning product such as Brasso as instructed by the manufacture. Apply using a soft cloth and polish to a shine, to guard against tarnish.
For Gold or silver coloured – outdoors statues
These statues are made of the same material as the indoor statues (see above), which have then been coated in a lacquer to allow them to be used outside. This lacquer will need to be reapplied yearly to ensure that your statue retains it's ability to withstand environmental conditions that could cause it to erode. This is a simple process where the quick drying lacquer called Ercalene “S” is painted onto the statue. Ercalene “S” can be purchased at www.hswalsh.com
Firstly, a volcanic cement statue is created by hand modelling. Then a layer of clay is coated over the cement image, like a skin. This layer is then sculpted to allow for fine modelling of the features.
The different body parts are made separately eg the head, torso, arms etc. These parts are then welded together using intense fire to join the pieces at the seams.
The liquid metal comprising of brass, steel and copper is then cast over the clay skin. The stone and clay is removed from the inside and the statue is sanded.
If the statue is silver coloured a silver compound is coated over the re-heated statue.
The finishing process is to heat the statue with a bamboo stick and coconut fibre dipped in oil to blacken the statue, which is then shined and smoothed with a soft cloth.
If you intend to place your statue outside it must first have been coated in a suitable lacquer as the statues are not water-resistant. If you selected outdoors as the environmental finish when you purchased your statue then your statue comes already coated. See How do I care for my statue above.
Yes, the artists, Elyezer and Suastika-Tuttink, create original paintings. Elyezer creates more than one painting of an image but they all differ. Please see About the Artists for more details.
The canvases are hand-stretched onto a one-inch wooden frame that makes the painting rigid. They do not come with a decorative frame.
